Target audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of oncologists and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with breast cancer and solid tumors.

Statement of need

Management of patients with drug-resistant breast cancer remains a clinical challenge; with the increasing use of taxanes in the adjuvant and metastatic settings, improved strategies for taxane pre-treated patients are essential. This program will provide the rationale for drug selection through a review of the mechanisms of action and resistance for beta-tubulin binding agents. An appreciation of these different mechanisms of action and the clinical activity of newer agents, such as the epothilones, is also essential for optimal patient management.

Accreditation

Method of participation

There are no fees for participating and receiving CME credit for this activity. During the period April 1, 2009 through April 1, 2010, participants must: (1) Read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures; (2) study the educational activity; (3) complete the post test by recording the best answer to each question in the answer key on the evaluation form; (4) complete the evaluation form; and (5) mail or fax the evaluation form with answer key to Postgraduate Institute for Medicine.

A statement of credit will be issued only upon receipt of a completed activity evaluation form and a completed post test with a score of 70% or better. Your statement of credit will be mailed to you within 3 weeks.
