Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be better able to

• Describe the underlying reasons for, and the management of, patients with
  UC who are not satisfactorily controlled on 5-ASA treatments alone
• Discuss the mechanistic, efficacy and safety data regarding the new
  generation of corticosteroid therapy
• Explain the future role of corticosteroids, including non-systemic
  corticosteroids, in patients with mild-moderate UC
• Describe appropriate management strategies for patients with active
  moderate-to-severe UC
